FAQs

TYRES & TYRE FITTING

Where can I buy tyres in Auckland?

You can purchase tyres online through Overtime Tyres or visit our Penrose workshop at 2/149 Station Road, Penrose, Auckland. We offer a wide range of tyres for cars, SUVs, 4WDs, utes, vans and light commercial vehicles, with options to suit different driving requirements and budgets.

Do you supply and fit new tyres?

Yes, we supply and fit new tyres directly at our Penrose workshop. Our team can help you choose the right tyre for your vehicle, then fit and balance your new tyres so you can get back on the road safely.

Can I buy tyres online and have them fitted in Penrose?

Yes. You can purchase your tyres through our online tyre store and select in-store fitting and balancing at our Penrose workshop. We also offer an optional upgrade to Road Force precision balancing for customers who want advanced balancing and fault-finding.

What tyre size does my vehicle need?

Your correct tyre size can usually be found on the sidewall of your current tyre, your vehicle’s tyre placard (inside the door frame), or in the manufacturer’s handbook. If you’re unsure, contact our team before purchasing and we can help you identify the correct tyre size.

How do I know when my tyres need replacing?

Signs that your tyres need replacing include low tread depth, uneven wear, cracks, sidewall damage, bulges, repeated loss of pressure, or if the tyres are getting old. If you’re unsure about your tyre safety, bring your vehicle to Overtime Tyres Penrose. We will inspect them and explain your options.

Can you repair a slow tyre leak?

Yes. A slow leak can be caused by a puncture, a faulty valve, a poor bead seal, wheel damage or another underlying issue. We will inspect the tyre and wheel to help identify exactly where the air is escaping and fix it safely.

Can every punctured tyre be repaired?

No, not every punctured tyre can be safely repaired. Whether a tyre can be fixed depends entirely on the location of the puncture, the type of damage, and the overall condition of the tyre. For safety reasons, some damaged tyres must be replaced. If you have a nail or object in your tyre, bring it to us and we’ll inspect it to determine if a safe repair is possible.

TYRE PRESSURE & TYRE CARE

What tyre pressure should I use?

Always use the tyre pressure recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. The recommended pressure is usually found on the vehicle’s tyre placard, commonly inside the driver’s door area, or in the vehicle handbook.

Why does one of my tyres keep losing air?

Repeated pressure loss can be caused by a puncture, valve problem, bead leak, wheel damage or another issue. If you are continually topping up the same tyre, have it inspected by our team rather than simply continuing to add air.

Can incorrect tyre pressure cause uneven tyre wear?

Yes, incorrect tyre pressure is a major contributor to uneven tyre wear. It can also negatively affect your vehicle’s handling, braking efficiency, and fuel economy.
